Staying Fit in the New Year

Exercise and nutrition are common New Year’s Resolution topics: “This year, I’m going to start exercising, lose all my extra weight, take better care of myself, etc.” As a personal trainer, this is something Dewayne Malone sees every January. Full of good intentions, people flood into the gym to get started on new, healthier lifestyles. Some of these “resolutioners” are successful and form new habits. However, many people lose sight of their good intentions and fall back into old, unhealthy patterns.

This month we heard what personal trainer and competitive bodybuilder Dewayne Malone has to say on why this specific resolution is so hard to stick with and how you can stop yourself from becoming another failed statistic in new year’s health resolutions. Dewayne shared his insights on the importance of exercise, how to stay motivated, and the best ways to keep going and stay on track.

.Dewayne Malone has been training professionally since 2003, competing in bodybuilding since 2006, and promoting his own fitness shows since 2010. Since starting his company Against All Odds Fitness in 2005, Dewayne has trained thousands of clients and helped countless amounts of people change their lives, eventually expanding to online training and offering motivational fitness apparel. As one of Houston’s top personal trainers, he has had the opportunity to be showcased on TV fitness segments with CW39, KHOU11, FOX26, ABC13, and the LiveWell Network. He is passionate about health and fitness. Even more than that, he loves helping people achieve their goals, get results, and do what they thought they couldn’t.
